Our Goal

Sprouting Leaders is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting continuous academic growth and personal development among youth in some of Chicago’s most disadvantaged neighborhoods. Through mentorship, education, and service we aspire to transform our youth to become leaders within their communities.

We are looking for dedicated mentors & volunteers all year long to help us continue our mission of helping establish meaningful relationships with our youth.

“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires”

The Sprouting Leaders team hosts the annual Secret Santa Toy Drive to help bring joy to our communities. The toy drive is unique in that our kids actually draft specific letters requesting the item they would like. The letters are then paired with an eager volunteer who goes out and purchases the gift. This year, we are donating 250 gifts to the schools in which we facilitate our mentoring program. Stay tuned for videos and pictures on our social media.

How Our Mentors Make An Impact

We found the most effective way of mentoring comes from ongoing relationship building with a trusted person. Take a look at some of the activities we do below:

After School Visits

On the weekdays, we send mentors to visit elementary schools where they help the students with their homework as well as work on building a mentoring relationship.

School Improvement Days

Every month during the CPS semester, we have a community service event to clean up the school’s surrounding block and interior. Activities range from organizing, to cleaning up, to painting!

Fun Events

From playing sports to visiting Millenium Park, our events promote student confidence through interactions with their peers, mentors, teachers, and parents.
