A community where youth from all backgrounds, regardless of socioeconomic status, are offered an equal opportunity to learn, lead and thrive.
Our adolescent years play a critical role in shaping our beliefs, values, and morals, influencing the choices we make and future paths we take. Providing proper support and positive influence during this pivotal period – particularly when communities or guardians lack adequate resources – can equip youth with the compass to navigate these challenging years and guide their life journey.
Young adults who were at-risk for falling off track but had a mentor are:
Sprouting leaders within our communities. One seed at a time.
Our mission is to promote continuous academic growth and personal development among youth in some of Chicago’s most disadvantaged communities. Through mentorship, education, and service, we transform our youth to become leaders within their communities. Sprouting Leaders
Having a positive mentor early in life can make all the difference in future goals, aspirations, and motivation.
We help bridge the age gap by pairing (one-to-one or one-to-two) college leaders with students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade to build a peer-to-peer mentorship bond which develops throughout a college semester (10-12 weeks).
Throughout the semester, we host workshops revolving around the importance of education to get youth thinking about long term educational goals and aspirations.
Workshops range from “What is a Major” to alcohol awareness.
In becoming leaders, our youth collaborate in giving back by participating in monthly service events called “School Improvement Days” where we address immediate needs of the school and surrounding area.
By volunteering alongside mentors and other volunteers, our youth start realizing a greater appreciation and ownership for their school and community.
One Seed at a Time.
